Enrolled in 1988 as a Lawyer in India, the law practice in Civil, Criminal and Business Law including international business and trade laws span over several years. The training and blessing of legal luminaries like N.V. Naga Subramanian, the Civil Law doyen and N.T. Vanamamalai, the top-ranking State Criminal Lawyer, made it possible to become one among the most sought-after lawyers at the District and state levels.

Following the footprints of his Lawyer Grand Father Late C. Ramanujam Iyengar, a stalwart of yesteryear Criminal law practice who appeared in the famous Lord Norton murder trial during British era, Kannan accentuated the same spirit in a very famous movie theatre murder trial in the same Criminal courts where his Grand Father held his practice.
As a Criminal Defense Lawyer in the much-publicized Uniforms, Sarees and Footwear political scam, launched against the former Chief Minister Jayalalitha’s cabinet Ministers and her colleagues, Kannan bought a new twist and turn with a media glare and popularity.

Specialization in Civil Litigation has placed him in an unenviable position and in-depth knowledge in the practice of law. As a trial lawyer, represented thousands of clients in the past in India and conducted several injunction law suits against the local Government and individuals.

Currently enrolled as Barrister & Solicitor at the Law Society of Ontario since 2008, the practice ranges from Real Estate Law, Corporate/Business Law and recently expanded the practicing of WTO Trade Laws and General Agreement on Trade & Tariff (GATT). Presently serving clients in the areas of Pharmaceuticals, Nutraceuticals, Hotels, Commercial Malls, Restaurants, Industrial Manufacturing, International Trading and exporting firms, Food and agricultural industries, Software industries, beside few others.

Kannan holds BA and MA in Economics, MBA in Marketing Management, LLB from University of Madras, Bharathiar University in India and Canadian LLB (University of Windsor).
